Reading the bible is not all about how good the flowers look in the margins that you spent 2 hours painting. It’s about the actual words. Now, I’m not saying the women who have those amazing bibles are wrong in creating art with their bibles. I just knew that I, personally, would get way too caught up in the aesthetic of it all and not the actual message and verses! Kudos to all the women who can do both!
A friend and I were discussing this not too long ago. I shared my fears and anxieties about messing up God’s plan. She simply said, “You aren’t that powerful”. I sat their thinking over that statement. What truth she spoke. Who am I to say I have the power to change or ruin God’s plan for my life.
When I was younger, I always assumed I had to read the Bible from cover to cover. So, every new year I’d start reading Genesis and very rarely get past Numbers. I’m not sure where I got this idea that I had to read it in order from Genesis to Revelations. But, there I was trying so hard to get past all the lineages and family trees listed in the Old Testament.
I went back and forth as to what this blog would ultimately be. There are so many things to write about and so many options on what to call it! Finally, I decided on Montana Moxie. In my early stages of planning, I wanted to do a travel blog which was named Montana Gypsy. I was really excited and jumped in head first! After getting everything set up, I had a bit of a realization.
As you know if you read my previous welcome post, Moxie is one of my favorite words. I first heard it when I was at a conference back in, let’s say, 2013. The speaker was talking about how she had built her business with grit and moxie. I was so confused with the weird choice of words. But then she explained the meaning behind those words and how it defined her success. After that, I was hooked on the word moxie. Grit, not so much. I mean, it’s not as pretty or exciting as moxie.
Your mindset is so heavily influenced by outside sources. We have to guard our minds against all the negative input. We are told by magazines they we need to lose weight, but on the next page we are told to treat ourselves and should bake this cupcake recipe! Almost none of the content our minds take in actually fits together. They all contradict each other.
As we move into the new year, what are some of your New Year’s Resolutions? Do you have any or did you jump off the bandwagon? I get it. New Year’s Resolutions are pretty cliche. That’s why I like to say they are my New Year Goals instead!
If you are a creative person (or want to be), Big Magic will definitely help you in a few different ways. If you are extremely analytical and think you don’t have a creative bone in your body, I still believe this is a good book for you! Mostly because everyone is creative, just in different ways. You might find that you are more creative than you think after reading this book.
Fall is by far my favorite season! The days get cooler and outside gets more colorful! Plus, wearing boots and scarves becomes not only accepted but practical. Fall means sipping warm drinks while snuggled under a fuzzy blanket, that Christmas is coming soon, and that ski season is almost upon us. It’s really a season of transition and expectation.
If you stop learning, you become stagnant. When you become stagnant, you allow yourself to live in your comfort zone. When you live in your comfort zone, you aren’t in the area of growth where God wants you to be. God wants us to learn, grow, and study throughout our entire lives.
This is one of those books that I stole off of my mom's bookshelf right before we headed for the mountains for a family weekend at a ski resort. I knew I'd have some down time, so I snatched a book and threw it in my bag. Little did I know I'd spend more time with my nose in this book that weekend than on the ski hill.
Girl, Wash Your Face is 20 chapters of pure inspiration and a good kick in the butt! Rachel Hollis discusses topics that so many are afraid to dive into. She also isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Reading this is the equivalent of sage advice from a personal life coach.
My morning ritual starts with 15-20 minutes of yoga and 10 minutes of meditation. The yoga helps get the blood flowing right when I wake up! During the 10 minutes of meditation, I usually sit and listen to my breathing, focus on a bible verse, or just listen to God. This helps me feel less anxious throughout the day and allows me to have time away from any distractions to start the day off right.
It seems that everyone's dream is the ability to get their work done from home. As a recently designated "work from home" business owner I can tell you their are some great pros to getting your work done in your PJs. Their are, of course, also a few cons of the experience. So, here are 6 pros and cons of working from home!
In 2016 was the start of Enclave Marketing… or at least something similar. We weren’t quite sure what it was going to be, but we were excited about it. It started out as a little something to do on the side of our current careers and has now turned into a full-time gig for both of us.
I recently made a trip to Disneyland with some friends for my 25th birthday. I know, I’ve already done a post on Disneyland, but I have learned a few more updated tricks to share! Before this trip, I hadn’t been to Disneyland since 2014, which was right after I graduated college. So, this is an up to date overview of Disneyland and how I like to spend my time there!
Disneyland has changed over the years, but I think for the better. They added Cars Land, updated the Tower of Terror to be Guardians of the Galaxy themed, and so much more! But, you can leave out the classics when you go! You have to go on It’s A Small World at least once (even though the music is TORTURE). We got stuck on it for 45 minutes once… never went on it again!
I was super surprised that I got my passport so soon! I applied for it just 2 weeks ago. They say it takes 4-6 weeks for it to process. Going through the requirements of applying for a passport, I honestly thought it would be more involved. If you are looking to get your first passport like me, you can visit the website for everything you'll need to apply! You can visit it my clicking here.
